Master of Physical Education / Strength & Conditioning Coach

Why not combine the two with our Master of Physical Education Degree and Strength & Conditioning Coach Certification at the Academy of Sport Education (Wyższa Szkoła Edukacja w Sporcie). Immerse yourself in physical education, fitness and sport performance while building a base of knowledge and understanding in human movement. Our students are exposed to real-world learning with a significant proportion of the degree offering practical experience to make sure that upon graduation, they are ready to teach and coach in wide range of public and private health, wellness, and sport entities.

The Master of Physical Education degree with a specialization track of Strength and Conditioning Coach provides you with the most current scientific knowledge and practical application within the fields of physical education, personal fitness and high performance strength and conditioning in sports. During the course of study you will explore theoretical foundations and learn how to utilize knowledge from the wide range of sports science disciplines such as physiology, biomechanics, motor learning, motor control and development, theory of sport, principles of strength and conditioning. Our balanced, multi-disciplinary approach provides you with an in-depth understanding of sport training, factors that influence training programs and high level sport performance, methods of monitoring, controlling and evaluating training effects as well as science-based methodology of manipulation of training methods, forms, and modalities to achieve desired athletic performance goals.

Practical field experiences are a key elements of the Strength and Conditioning Coach Program at the Academy of Sport Education, to enable you to apply your knowledge, test and hone your skills in real-world settings such as fitness clubs, schools, public and private sport clubs and academies.

Our program is delivered by means of lectures, tutorials, seminars, examinations, presentations, assignments, science laboratories, computer laboratories and special projects. Assessment may include objective structured practical examinations, theory papers, assignments and oral presentations. Special emphasis is placed on real-world experience from the first semester. Students engage in activities such as case-based learning, practical sessions, practical work placements and problem-solving to develop their competencies.

All general education and specialization courses within our curriculum are linked together in a thematic sequences to aid you in acquiring knowledge and building strong practical competencies base to pursue independent professional accreditation upon graduation offered by the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA) as the Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS). The Academy of Sport Education is an approved school with the Ministerstwo Nauki i Szkolnictwa Wyższego and upon graduation, with a master degree in physical education with optional specialization as the strength and conditioning coach, provides you with the opportunity to enjoy a wide range of career options in such fields as personal training, physical education, health and wellness, recreation, fitness, high performance sports, and strength and conditioning.

About the Program

Program: MGR-TPM Master of Physical Education with an optional Strength & Conditioning Coach Certificate

Total Number of ECTS Credit Hours: 323

Number of Hours within Strength & Conditioning Coach Specialization (marked yellow): 108

The student must complete a five-year educational program consisting of two degrees: a three-year undergraduate program and a two-year master program comprising a total of 323ECTS credit hours divided into subjects: (I) general education, (II) basic physical education and sport courses, (III) advanced physical education and sport courses, (IV) elective courses, (V) sports camps, (VI) teacher/trainer/coaching internships, and additional elective courses within the specialization of (VII) personal training instructor and (VIII) strength and conditioning coach.

The given number of ECTS hours for each subject includes a different number of hours of lectures and supervised practical experience sessions specific to the requirements of each subject. Each ECTS credit hour equals 30 contact hours comprising of the student’s classroom work and independent self-study.

The three-year Level I Bachelor Degree studies end with the submission and defence of the written diploma project and, optionally, with a theoretical and practical examination to obtain additional qualifications in the form of a Personal Training Instructor (PTI) certificate awarded by the Academy of Sport Education (Wyższa Szkoła Edukacja w Sporcie).

The two-year Level II Master Degree studies end with the submission and defense of the master's thesis and, optionally, with a theoretical and practical examination in order to obtain additional qualifications in the form of a certificate of Strength & Conditioning Coach (TPM) awarded by the Academy of Sport Education (Wyższa Szkoła Edukacja w Sporcie).

The subjects marked in yellow (108hours ECTS) are the core of the Strength & Conditioning Coach specialization, designed to ensure the highest level of education of future specialists according to: (1) NSCA Guidelines and Standards published in December 2017 in the Strength & Conditioning Journal, Volume 39, Number 6, (2) NSCA Basics of Strength & Conditioning Manual from 2012, and (3) NSCA Foundations of Fitness Programming from 2015.
